Vanuvuori Nature Reserve
Nature trails and observation tower
The summit of Vanuvuori, located in Hiltulanlahti, Kuopio, is a nature reserve consisting of three peaks: Ukko-Vanu, Akka-Vanu, and Pikku-Vanu. Rising nearly 140 meters above the surface of Lake Kallavesi, the area features a 2.9 km nature trail marked with signs and painted markers. The trail begins by passing through an old logging site, but upon entering the protected area, hikers are met with dense forest, along with some very steep ascents and descents.
Along the route, on the summit of Ukko-Vanu, stands a 20-meter-high observation tower offering magnificent views in several directions. Stairs have been built on the northern slope of Ukko-Vanu to make access to the tower easier. The trail also includes a campfire site, a lean-to shelter, a woodshed, and a toilet.
The parking area and starting point are located at Koirakaarre 70, 70870 Kuopio.
Please note that mountain biking is not permitted in the nature reserve, and campfires are only allowed at designated fire sites. To help protect the environment, visitors are encouraged to stay on marked trails.
