Tahko highlights Finnish sauna culture
with a new sauna theme week
The new Tahko Saunafest theme week also aims to attract international visitors
The Finnish sauna is one of Finland’s best-known cultural symbols and one of the country’s most distinctive tourism experiences. As demand for wellness, nature-based and authentic travel experiences continues to grow worldwide, interest in Finnish sauna culture is also increasing. Responding to this trend, Tahko will launch the first-ever Tahko Saunafest theme week from 12–16 August 2026.
Tahko Saunafest brings together the area’s diverse sauna experiences, wellness services and tourism businesses under one shared theme. The long-term goal is to establish the theme week as an annual highlight that strengthens Tahko’s position as a leading destination for Finnish wellness and sauna tourism while increasing its appeal among international visitors.
Throughout the theme week, visitors can create their own personalised sauna inerary by exploring a wide range of unique sauna experiences. These include a lakeside sauna container, a floating sauna raft, spa sauna worlds, traditional Finnish saunas and a variety of wellness experiences. Visitors who register their sauna experiences during the week will also have the opportunity to win a Harvia sauna heater gift voucher worth 1200 €.

Tahko Saunafest showcases the richness and diversity of Finnish sauna culture. During the week, visitors can explore more than 15 different sauna locations and participate in experiences including the Harvia Pop-up Sauna Village, sauna yoga, sound bowl relaxation sessions, Sunrise Sauna Picnic mornings and the Tahko’s Most Creative Sauna Whisk Competition. Participating businesses will also offer special promotions and exclusive experiences throughout the week, allowing every visitor to design their own perfect sauna day.
Tahko Saunafest represents a joint investment by the region’s tourism businesses in strengthening year-round tourism. The initiative supports Tahko’s long-term vision of becoming an internationally recognised destination for wellness, nature and experience-based travel while making Finnish sauna culture an even more prominent part of the destination’s tourism brand.
