The Kuopio Art Museum operates at the heart of Kuopio’s downtown and North Savo’s art scene. Although compact in size, the museum is grand in spirit.

The Art Museum preserves North Savonian art for the present and the future, encourages everyone to experience art, and creates opportunities for artists. Through its exhibitions and events, the museum offers unique experiences in its own distinctive way.

The facility also houses a museum shop as well as GalleriA and the Kuopio Art Lending Service, which are provided in cooperation with the Kuopio Visual Artists Association – Ars Libera. As the regional art museum of North Savo, its mission is to strengthen the position of visual arts in the region.

The Kuopio Art Museum’s collection work focuses on North Savonian visual arts, supplementing and caring for existing collections. Public art has a long tradition in the city of Kuopio, and the “percent for art” principle has been followed since 2003.
